When the Window is the View

January 15, 2007

Sometimes the window itself can be more interesting than what’s on the other side. Zoom in on these pictures and check out the patterns; they truly fascinate me. Too bad ice has to bring such bad weather as well…

Cruising the Nile

December 22, 2006

These pictures were taken on a cruise and a felucca ride on the mighty Nile, from Aswan down the nile (north) to Luxor, Egypt. The mausoleum in some of the pictures is that of Aga Khan III, the 48th imam of Shia Ismaili Muslims.

Corinthian Columns

November 25, 2006

The city of Corinth sits on a thin little isthmus between the mainland of Attica and the Peloponnesian peninsula in Greece. The Temple of Apollo (pictured below) is typical ancient Greek fare, but ironically doesn’t use Corinthian capitals on its columns. The other pictures are of (and from) the Acrocorinth, a mountainous outcropping near the city that was heavily fortified during the Byzantine era. The Acrocorinth was best known for its temple of Aphrodite, which was mainly famous for being the home to a whole lot of women of ill repute.

Croatian Vacation

November 16, 2006

I think this post may be the first of many that will explore my love for travel photography; i.e., it’ll probably become a regular series. I have a lot of pictures from places around the world and I might as well share them. Today’s subject is Dubrovnik, Croatia, which has well-preserved medieval walls perched on the edge of the ocean, a beautiful harbor, red-tiled roofs, and is nestled into the side of a mountain. It would’ve been about perfect had it not been for all those Italian tourists…
