Cruel yet Eloquent

The Onion has a piece called Hey, Wasn’t There Some Sort Of National Tragedy A Few Months Back?

Sometimes biting satire is the best way of making us think about ourselves–as individuals or a country. This story’s about memory, forgetfulness, lack of resolve, and the banality of “never forget.” Maybe if things like this stuck in our heads more often, we’d actually have reasonable gun laws.

But woe unto me for wishing that we come up with rationally conceived legislation instead of deriving our laws from blindly-followed, ne’er-questioned Rights.
